Good Friends in Ireland

Happy Déardaoin! (Thursday)

In Ireland friendship is very important. Not only that but, loyalty to ones family and friends is a serious thing. Some might say that we are not very hard working people but, that is not true. We work hard every day but, have what you might call a less stressful lifestyle. We always shake hands with every one we meet; men, women, and children. In a business meeting you shake hands before leaving as well. Always leaving time for family and friends to hang out in a pub or just talking wherever. In Ireland the most popular place to visit a friend is the local Pub. Where we sing songs, tell stories, or just hang out. There are over a 11,000 Pubs in Ireland. Our legal drinking age is 18 but if you are 14 or older you may enter a pub.

This is one of my favorite pubs in Ireland ( Yes, I took that picture).

Sometimes we have people visit our country who do not know the way we act and our not aware that most in Ireland our not comfortable with the display of public affection. We also do not like it when people act loud, aggressive or arrogant.

In Ireland we are not always aware of the time and we are often late for business meeting, or social gathering. We are just more relaxed when it comes to things like time. We also are calm and creative in a time of crisis. Most would prefer to improvise rather than follow a exact plan.
Fact of The Day: An old Irish birthday tradition is to lift the birthday child upside down and give his head a few gentle bumps on the floor for good luck. The number of bumps should match the child’s age plus one for luck!
