It's meeeeeeeeee!!!! Elizabeth again! Ever wonder what school life is like here in England? Well, it is a bit different from yours I'll bet. Education is a very important factor here. Most children here are home-schooled rather than attending public or private schools. Children's education in England is normally divided into two separate stages. They begin with primary education at the age of five and this usually lasts until they are eleven. Then they move to secondary school, there they stay until they reach sixteen, seventeen or eighteen years old. The children attend school from Monday to Friday, from 08:55 - 3:15. We have a two week break at Christmas and also at Easter. We have a six week summer break during July-August. We also have a break at mid-term which usually lasts for about a week. Most schools in England require children to wear a school uniform. Boys wear long grey or black trousers or shorts may be worn in the Summer along with a white shirt and a school tie which, in most primary schools is optional. They also wear black shoes. Girls uniform is mainly the same. Girls may wear skirts during the summer and often wear summr school dresses.
