There is a wide range of high quality restaurants in Iceland. The restaurants offer a fine variety of all kinds of foods produced locally. Meat here in Iceland is very fresh. Lamb meat to me is the best because the sheep roam freely in the mountains, and since Iceland has strict regulations relating to meat production, the use hormones is strictly forbidden. Fish, cheese, and vegetables are also very fresh since they are either made, caught, or grown here. The most common type of fish that is eaten here is haddock, cod, plaice, halibut, herring, and shrimp. Some farmers here in Iceland make their living off of raising turkey, chicken, duck, and geese or growing vegetables or fruits. They get paid big time since the restaurants are always searching for the best and the freshiest products.
