Things to do in Biel/Bienne Switzerland

Bonjour/Hallo! My name is Fiona Acklin. I live in the beautiful city of Biel/Bienne, Switzerland with my two older brothers and my mother and father. I just wanted to tell you about some things to do in my city.

The Swiss people love to hike. Biel/Bienne is no exception! With over 50,000 kilometers of trails in the country finding a path to hike is very easy. Mouantin climbing is popular too. And with the Alps and the Jura mounatins nearby we enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the winter. We also go snowshoe trekking and tobogganing. Bicycle riders can be found during warm weather. Sailing on Lake Beil is common too. Little kids will like feeding the swans that can be found on the lake.

If you're not an athletic person then shopping might be the thing for you. You can find everything from watches to cowbells to chocolates in our stores. The shopping hours tend to be from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4p.m. on Saturday.

  1. Are swans the national bird in Switzerland? Also why are the shopping hours so short.
